We are proud to announce that DutchTrig is now officially permitted in Estonia! This means that elms there too can be protected against Dutch elm disease with our biological vaccine. Estonia takes a major step in the fight against Dutch elm disease. In May, the first 85 elms in the capital city Tallinn were vaccinated with DutchTrig. This makes Estonia the first country in the Baltic region to take action using this biological method.
In busy shopping streets, along the water and in parks: we need greenery everywhere. Trees are important for cooling hot cities, purifying the air and providing us with shade to relax. Our urban environment, however, doesn’t offer the best conditions for every kind of tree, yet elms have been used for centuries in many cities around the world.
Its beautiful shape, its tolerance to polluted air and its suitability for various soils makes the elm is suitable for urban environments. It is also one of the few trees that can tolerate the salty sea winds of the coast. Under the right conditions, elms can live to be hundreds of years old. Some are even listed as historic living monuments.
Elms are invaluable to the scenic and cultural value of landscapes all over the world and provide important habitats for a wide variety of wildlife.
